Spinney Brook Workbox – the Story so Far.

Young ladies with their Pyjama Creations

This has been year 3 of sewing classes at Spinney Brook Workbox and it’s been a busy one. Sewing in Suffolk is on the up. I have had some lovely people in my personalised sewing classes and have enjoyed myself as much as they have enjoyed their great achievements. From all over the county and beyond people have come to discover that using that scary machine can be great fun, and not an object to be feared.

A grandmother from Polstead brought her granddaughter from Framlingham. A group of friends from over the border in Halstead, Essex had a noisy and fun day making cushion covers and their young daughters came during half term to make pyjama bottoms.

A young lady working for her Duke of Edinburgh award over near Shotley chose sewing as her new skill and produced some great work including a lovely dress she wore for her Grandmother’s party. She is now studying textiles and getting very ambitious. The sewing machines of two of my youngest sewers are humming away in Long Melford as they improve their skills and challenge themselves.

Some houseguests have also taken a day to be creative having travelled from Devon and from France and produced some lovely work, a quilted bag and an appliqued cot hanging for a new grandson respectively.

The variety has been wonderful as people have brought their own projects to get started or to finish and from clothing to soft toys, bags to cushions the creative ideas are boundless.

Keep sewing and enjoy!
