Five years of sewing fun!

Sewing Fun Together

Five years of sewing fun have flown past.  It has been a pleasure to meet so many lovely people re-kindling an old skill or discovering a new hobby.  I do hope I have been able to fire up your enthusiasm to have fun with your sewing machines.

There are so many different topics and skills when it comes to creative sewing. This year alone I have had grandmothers from Stowmarket and Mendlesham making great clothes for their granddaughters.  Mums in Laxfield and Sudbury have made quilts and book cushions.  A busy aunt in Buxhall made pyjamas and new baby gifts.  My young sewing enthusiasts have been busy too making cushions, bags and fabric boxes including lots of fun with applique.  Now their sewing machines are humming in Polstead and Hartest.  One 15 year old girl has made two onesies and curtains for her mother and for her bedroom. A young man of 15 bought himself a machine and after two lessons had made a bag and some pj shorts.  He has plans to make everything! So I am sure his machine is working hard in Bildeston, and like everybody else, he is having sewing fun.

I have had some very ambitious new class participants from Colchester, Norwich, Stowmarket, Kersey and Cambridge who have achieved great things making their own clothes. For one week I had two young ladies from Brussels, both 15 and new to sewing, who went home with a sweat shirt and a 1950s style dress. They both worked very hard and we had lots of sewing fun.

It is lovely to welcome new faces, and to spend time with my regulars who come for an uninterrupted “Sewing Spa Day” with lunch and tea provided.  I am excited about the new challenges that will be set this coming year.  I know one coming up soon is a buttons, zips and fasteners project for a special needs school.  There are so many new ideas out there to try, especially with re-cycling unwanted clothes and fabrics.

Good luck to you all in 2018!  Book your classes here: New Year Class Dates
